i enjoyed this so much!! literally unable to not stop grinning throughout the entire second half of the film. i think this might become my favourite action film and maybe my favourite comedy film too

the amount and quality of one-liners here are incredible, and i cannot exaggerate how much i loved every call and answer with both the lines and camera shots. the cinematography is so beautiful, and cannot be done without the genius editing and transitions. the shot composition and especially the use of cameras/lenses, apparently, switched with the genre, and thinking back, it really made my watching experience of the third act more immersive. then, beyond that, the genre smash to me was not out of place at all, but even made, again, the third act pleasantly surprising with the ridiculousness. also some of the messages/one-line comments in the film seemed still pretty relevant today -- i mean, "make sandford great again"?? ahead of its time.

i had thought it'd be impossible for me to like a cop film (especially with having just watched and disliked die hard the day before) but hot fuzz has done it. and i think what i like the most is how it portrayed nicholas angel to enjoy mundane work like helping the regular people, which, eventually, really is what made him succeed.

very importantluy, olivia coleman's in this. that pretty much means enough for me on its own. and we mustn't forget the gay connotations.

"nothing like a bit of girl on girl!"
