Jurassic World Debunked!

funsleepingdragon June 26, 2022

Last weekend, my friend Mason and I watched the new Jurassic World movie Jurassic World Dominion. As I knew many things about dinosaurs that others didn’t, I spotted many mistakes which I pointed out to my dad.

# 1.

The first mistake I saw was that all the different kinds of Raptors didn’t have feathers! The most recent studies showed that some dinosaurs like Raptors and Tyrannosaurs had feathers because they were closely related to modern-day birds. Therefore, the movie was wrong.

# 2.

The second mistake was a very easy one to see; at the end, Therizinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex teamed up to destroy the gigantic Giganotosaurus. That shouldn’t have happened because Tyrannosaurus Rex was a carnivore while Therizinosaurus was an herbivore. They would have been fighting each other in real life! That’s why the movie is wrong again.

# 3.

Now the third mistake I will point out is in all the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park movies. It is that Dilophosaurus can not shoot poison and it does not have a frill that opens wide like a modern-day Frilled Lizard. What it does have is two large crests on top of its head. Hence the name: Dilophosaurus, which means “Double-Crested Lizard” in Latin. Therefore, the movie is wrong once again! Man, won’t these people ever learn!

# 4.

The fourth mistake happens when the movie says that Giganotosaurus is the largest carnivorous dinosaur. It is not! The actual crown-holder is Spinosaurus. Not much is known about it because most of its fossils were bombed during World War II. But recent studies have shown that though Spinosaurus weighed about the same as Giganotosaurus, it was a few feet longer. Therefore, the movie is wrong again! I think for the movie director’s birthday, I should get him an encyclopedia of dinosaurs.

# 5.

The fifth and final mistake has nothing to do with dinosaurs. Instead, it does have something to do with a Dimetrodon, a creature that some people mistake for dinosaurs. Recent studies have shown that the tips of the bones that hold up Dimetrodon’s large sail are usually very fragmented. These show that skin did not completely cover Dimetrodon’s sail bones. However, in the movie, the skin completely covered the sail.

Therefore, Jurassic World is officially DEBUNKED!

P.S There is a new BBC documentary on Apple TV called Prehistoric Planet. If you like dinosaurs, you will love Prehistoric Planet.
