What impresses me most in Born in Flames is that America in the socialistic democratic period relapses into a less equalitarian state. Women are kicked out of jobs again and deliberately depicted as mothers and wives in the media. The leader of the Women Army, along with her colleagues, tries to persuade other women to join them in order to change the status quo, but is called as a separatist and later secretly murdered by the government. This dystopian society shown in the film sends me disoriented and lost and puts me through the future shock as the change is unbelievable and unimaginable to me. In other words, I am not prepared to accept the course of history could regress so far that women will be deprived of basic rights again.
