這兩天網絡上都在傳抓奸小三的視頻，兩個人的私事難堪地公之于衆。甚至有妻子開車沖進河裡，夫婦同歸于盡的慘劇。偶然在此時看了《希望溝壑》Hope Gap這部電影，感人至深，兩相對比，沒有對錯，隻是不同的選擇，令人感慨。
影片算得上半部婚姻恐怖片，恐怖在于相同的主題：愛情和婚姻如浮雲，說來就來，說走就走，甜蜜纏綿轉眼變成背棄憎厭，涼薄決絕。但是它比完全的、讓人涼徹心骨的婚姻恐怖片，如《45周年》、消失的愛人，讓人産生45年假愛的懷疑，報複、視為仇敵，又截然相反，影片明亮而開闊，如片中大量航拍鏡頭下的大海和海邊的希望溝壑美景。
影片取自導演父母的真人真事，一對結婚29年的夫妻，突然有一天丈夫說我不再愛你了，我愛上了别人，說完立刻轉身離家。妻子該如何反應？難以置信、痛苦、失落、痛恨……常人該有的千般感受都有，甚至想尋死。兒子也很受傷心痛，夾在父母之間，花時間陪伴母親，希望她能面對接受，早日走出。傾聽父親的心聲，無奈接受他的另有所愛，隻能指責父親欺騙，沒有早日了斷和告知。
詩歌貫穿了整部電影，是女主的一生愛好，為她赢來了愛情，也幫助她走出了失婚，為影片增加不少韻味。影片開頭，女主就在興緻勃勃地念詩：

父親告訴兒子，當年二人火車上初次相遇，你的母親洞悉了我喪親的憂傷，朗誦了一首亨利.金寫給死去妻子的詩給愛德華以安撫，并由此成就了彼此的姻緣。
Stay for me there 為我守候

愛情和婚姻以詩開頭，以詩結束。開始的時候，“她為什麼那麼懂得我的感受？”，“她光彩炫目”，是的，兩人相愛，但遺憾的是，強勢的女方逐漸把男方推開，兩人的心門逐漸關閉，漸行漸遠，最終是離去。父親一直跟兒子強調，愛過，但現在不愛了，不再。愛情有花開的時候，也得承認有花謝的時候；曾經雙雙幸而沉浸在燦爛嬌傲的花叢中，馨香四溢；加上兒子，一家三口手拉手一起玩蕩秋千的遊戲，其樂融融。然而眼前隻有殘花落泥，凋零枯萎，隻得咀嚼和接受。
兒子在幫助老媽早日move on 的過程中起了很大的作用，看着媽媽在Hope Gap徘徊，有跳崖自殺的念頭，他無奈地說，if you want die，tell me first，i just wanna say goodbye before your suicide。i will never ask you to live for me.casue i know how hard it is when you lost hope to live.母子倆擁抱在一起，痛苦達到頂點，也在走向消融。
漸漸地妻子走了出來，她養了條狗，做義工，恢複自己詩歌選集的編選。有一天去到丈夫的新家，三個人終于站在一起面對面，小三理直氣壯地說，曾經有三個人不快樂，現在隻有一個人不快樂了。妻子淡然說，“好的，我知道了。”轉身離去，開車暢行在筆直的海邊大道上，臉上浮現微笑，陽光明亮。

是啊，還有自己，還有懂事的兒子，還有希望，這就足夠了！
影片細節刻畫很到位，父子倆如出一轍的泡茶時用勺壓一下；有的地方還很有趣，比如妻子離婚後，養了一隻和前夫一樣名字的狗狗，訓練讓狗狗裝死。
一家三口，三個演員都是戲骨，在一起飚戲很是精彩。演父親的Bill Nighty在《真愛至上》裡演過氣的搖滾歌手，邊看邊出戲，想起他搖頭晃腦邊唱邊舞的樣子。演兒子的Josh O’Connor在《雷尼爾一家》也演大兒子，他在雷一家總是眯眼壞笑，片中也有似曾相識的笑容，差點出戲，當然演技也很在線。貝甯演的強勢妻子，在遭遇巨大變故後，心緒複雜難過，演員的表演收放自如，從開始對她霸氣的不适轉為同情理解，很精彩。
看完，隻湧上木心的一句話：“不知原諒什麼，誠覺世事盡可原諒。”
