86/100 一部托尔斯泰小说般的film-novel，某些黑夜或暗室场景带有一种表现主义美学探索。
不懂菲律宾历史的话看这部7小时意识流超现实作品的话，极其难以理解故事
完成度相当不错的作品，值得7小时。导演用一个家族在1973-1974年衰败的切片，將近代菲律宾歷史的血腥和残暴以各个人物状態以及接连的事件表现出来。无论是16世纪的家族殖民歷史的缘起，还是祖父临终前仍最关心的权谋和残忍，以及疯家婶那慌乱的敘述和悲戚的咏嘆，似乎都抵不过天地不仁，以致最终只能慨嘆时也命也的无奈。观影后最深的印象是教授的慨嘆以及那年轻中尉的表现，最后他们凝结成了两个质问，一是在可以没有道德底线的统治者眼中，是否「子民」的一切福祉都能作为他的要胁筹码，对內或者是对外？二是在傲慢的拥有知识的所谓精英和无知的人们面前，理性討论和前行是否都只是镜中花水中月般飘渺？而社会是不是最终只会进入无限的暴力的循环？ p.s. 剧院里有两位菲佣面对著疯狂的暴力和荒诞一直在开心地谈吐实在只让人看到绝望
