It’s hard to call the film a film; it goes far beyond that, at least in CN. The script is the reality, a common condition that persists for all females living there. Recalling the Alibaba event, economic/social status, education levels, living conditions made nothing different in terms of women condition. The problem is rooted in history, unhealthy bureaucracies (or mechanisms), and the way power has been distributed and exercised. Tracing those roots and branches, the upset condition of females was never a simple gender injustice, but an injustice that would shape the behaviour/knowledge networks of the whole society. And then, what kind of illusions have been established so far to cover up all the blood, tears, helplessness and sickness?
