在非常有限的成本下，拍了這樣一部對于艾滋危機和酷兒曆史都極具意義的作品，劇作和表演本身雖然都有強烈的舞台劇感，然而探讨的主題和其中的訊息卻深刻而曆久彌新。在死亡氣息蔓延的NYC酷兒群體中，在醫院病房裡去體會生而為人的勇氣與愛，而當David走上街頭，舉起抗議的picket時，我們再次被提醒關于the resistance and protest at the core of queerness 的意義。

在驕傲遊行當天看本片特别有意義，因為電影裡有電視報道80年代同樣的一天同樣的一群人走上街頭釋放驕傲。主角是艾滋危機中一位出櫃順利、家庭和睦、感情穩定的青年，他來到同志服務中心做義工，陪伴那些無人看護的臨終艾滋病患者，電影沒有着重強調病患的痛苦和疾病的殺傷力，而是在用病人的經曆改變主角的思維，讓他打破長久以來自己生活的幸運的氣泡——即“出櫃與否是自己的事與他人無關”，在艾滋危機中不僅要互相成為“buddy”幫助他人，每個人都站出來發聲更是很有必要的。電影雖然鏡頭和故事都比較簡單，但情感真摯動人，兩位演員也很不錯，是認知紐約艾滋危機的又一好例
