《愛爾蘭式告别》能擊敗《紅色手提箱》《小學生》與《伊瓦魯》拿到小金人，可以肯定其必是靠内容取勝而絕非技巧。母親的遺願化作兄弟的清單，故事呈現直白粗暴，觀感真摯笑中帶淚。相比較其他對手的政治諷刺與啼血控訴，看來這一次終究還是溫情占了上峰。
