"PoppyField"followsthestruggleofayoungRomaniangendarme,Cristi,whotriestofindthebalancebetweentwoapparentlyopposingpartsofhisidentity:thatofamanworkinginamachohierarchicalenvironmentandthatofaclosetedgaypersonwhotriestokeephispersonallifeasecret.Whilehislong-distanceFrenchboyfriend,Hadi,isvisitinghim,Cristiiscalledinforaninterventionatamovietheatre,whereanultra-nationalist,homophobicgrouphasinterruptedthescreeningofaqueerfilm.Afteroneoftheprotestersthreatenstoouthim,Cristispiralsoutofcontrol.

整部影片沒有機位切換，隻有一台機器或手持跟拍，左右移晃，或固定機位，一鏡到底。劇作上的安置十分成熟。從開篇部分的你侬我侬戲碼中便已悄然泛起了漣漪，妹妹的出現則是以一種遞進的方式撥開主角的形象以及故事主題，然後順利地過渡到故事的主篇章 ...
