The followings are few fragments of my thoughts on Cruella the movie. I wrote these because the Play was just... the most horrible thing on which I have ever laid my eyes. Three-star is a praise. They gathered a crowd of prestigious movie stars just for this lousy story. A shame. Emma Stone was too old to star as a maiden, but another Emma would do the trick —— Emma Mackey from Sex Education, the well-known British TV series regarding adolescent psychosexual development. Despite the leading actress problem, the film is still basic in almost every aspect and way too dramatic even for Disney. For instance, what is Estella’s motivation of becoming a fashion designer? Didn’t they notice that the necklace-stealing thing is a cliché? Can’t the Baroness detect that Estella is Cruella or is she troubled by face blindness? A Mother-daughter feud, are you kidding me? Not to mention that team-work shit and the premature and sudden becoming of Cruella... the whole Play was a joke. The truth is, without a plausible Play, all the efforts of the crew will go to waste, and all the actors and actresses are like puppets with no souls. Plus with all the highly stereotypical characters spoiling and revealing the storyline before the scenes could even possibly come up, I was bored to death while watching. My humble opinion is that the writer was too obsessed with establishing powerful and forceful female characters that both the leading females, specifically Cruella and the Baroness, are superfacial and slappable. That chihuahua deserved to be nominated for Academic Award though, lol. Finally when it came to the end, the sreenplay suggested a sequel, help.
